Arctic Ocean Support Overview

The National Science Foundation tasks CH2M HILL Polar Services to provide support to specific projects conducting Arctic Ocean-based field work.

This support is primarily in the form of:

  • Provision of satellite telephones for projects operating on research vessels north of 80 degrees (where traditional shipboard satellite communications are unreliable) .
  • Logistics support in the form of cargo movement to and from vessel ports of call
  • Field equipment and air support for ice camps.

Please contact Jill Ferris for further information about CPS's Arctic Ocean Support. Please visit the University-National Ocean Laboratory System (www.unols.org) web site for information about requesting ship time on Arctic Research Vessels or visit the ALIAS website (http://www.arcus.org/alias/location.html) for further information on specific sites and cruise tracks.
